Junior Council Leadership Points Submission Form

Use this form to submit eligible activities for IAS Junior Council Leadership Points. Please submit one activity at a time. IAS automatically records Junior Council meeting attendance and participation in IAS programs and volunteer opportunities when we already have those records. Those activities do not need to be submitted through this form. Students may be asked to provide verification of an activity. Additional STEM, academic, service, professional, or leadership experiences not specifically listed in the Leadership Points Guide may also be submitted for consideration.

Write and present a reflection on a Junior Council workshop or experience — 5 points
Recruit a new Junior Council member who joins and attends a meeting — 5 points
Send a professional thank-you or follow-up email to a Junior Council speaker or mentor — 3 points
Submit a handwritten thank-you note for IAS to mail to a speaker or mentor — 5 points

Academic Achievement *

Earn an A in a STEM course — 5 points
Earn a B in a STEM course — 3 points

Academic achievement points may be earned for eligible STEM courses completed during the Junior Council program year.

IAS Involvement *

Attend an eligible IAS event — 10 points
Volunteer at an eligible IAS event — 15 points
Volunteer at the IAS Annual Meeting — 20 points
Compete in the IAS Science Talent Search — 15 points

Eligible IAS events may include Science with a Twist, Science on Tap, BioBlitz, Wildflower Tour, Lab Crawl, regional IAS events, and other Academy programs and events.

STEM Engagement *

Volunteer at Celebrate Science Indiana — 15 points
Volunteer at Pacers STEM Fest — 15 points
Participate in an approved STEM competition, conference, science fair, symposium, or similar experience — 10 points
Visit or tour an Indiana college or university — 5 points
Participate in a laboratory, research facility, or STEM workplace tour — 10 points

Community Service *

Complete an approved community service activity — 5 points
Complete 3+ hours of community service in one activity or project — 10 points
Participate in an ongoing community service project or volunteer commitment — 15 points
Organize or lead a community service activity — 15 points

Community service must be unpaid and may be completed through a school, nonprofit organization, neighborhood group, faith-based organization, community event, or other approved organization.

Professional & Career Development *

Interview a STEM professional and present what you learned — 10 points
Create or meaningfully update a professional resume/CV — 5 points
Deliver a prepared professional or STEM presentation — 10 points
Attend an approved professional, academic, or STEM networking event — 5 points

Fundraising & Philanthropy *

Participate in Junior Council fundraising planning — 5 points
Take an active role in implementing the Junior Council fundraiser — 5 points
Participate in approved fundraising or sponsorship communication — 5 points
Take a leadership role in part of the fundraising project — 10 points
Send a donor or sponsor thank-you email — 3 points
Submit a handwritten donor or sponsor thank-you note for IAS to mail — 5 points
